We’ve been busy beavers around here! This past weekend was the kids’ birthday party (moved back a week from their actual birthday so that all their family members could come), but I think that deserves a separate post of its own. So what have we been up to this past week? Lots!
We’re continuing to work on our master bathroom retiling. My dad came over and helped us get started on the first row, which is always the hardest and most time consuming one. And now we’re spending an hour every here-or-there to continue the tiling. Its looking great!
We’ve been a bit under the weather (that’s an understatement!). We actually even switched over to paper diapers for a while because of -ahem- some #2 issues. But in between dealing with all of that, we’ve headed to the library A LOT.
The library did a cool “Storytime Plus Art” thing on a Saturday, so Jordan got to come with us to his first story time. They read some interactive books to the kids (I missed this part due to the diapering issues previously mentioned), and the kids got paintbrushes and pretended to paint their whole bodies. Then each kid got some paint squirted into a bag, and they got to make cool designs and experiment using their hands, brushes, credit cards, and feet (the feet was Jaylee’s contribution to art).
When we were leaving, Jordan said “It feels like we should have to pay for that”. Which I guess we kinda do, with our taxes. But it was just so very cool and fun. I think Jax may have been a bit too young, and a bit too under the weather. But Jaylee had a good time. Our library system totally rocks!
Another cool thing they do is summer reading, even for babies. So each kiddo is signed up and has a list of fun activities to do this summer. One of them was to pour some rice/sand/water and let the kids play in it and practice pouring. So we did that. With a little addition of our own (Cheerios).
It made a mess, but they had a good time. And I have a robotic vacuum to come clean up the rice. 🙂 So everyone is happy!
Another fun thing we did this week was play at little monkey business with our friends Elisha and Zeke. Jaylee and Elisha are similar in ages, and they had a good time running around the playing together. Or if they got separated, they’d run to us and ask where the other was.
Jax had a good time popping his head around the corner of the little toy house to play peekaboo with me. Of course he stopped it by the time I got out my camera to take a video. But trust me that it was the cutest little thing ever.
And of course, there were lots of fun and sweet moments at home. I try to take the kids somewhere pretty much everyday because it helps keep me sane, but their little diaper issue last week has us staying home quite a bit. Hopefully we’ve seen the tail end of that and won’t have to deal with it any more for a very long time!
I have been blessed.
