So it’s officially summer! And the days can now start getting a little shorter – the sun getting up at 5:00am is a little ridiculous. Luckily, we’ve invested in some serious blackout curtains.
Life has been pretty good. Busy enough that we haven’t been bored, but slow enough that its still relaxing. We’ve indulged in some tennis, story times, home renovation, splash parks, museum trips, and some fun jumping at home.
The kids are very very active. They get bored just staying at home and playing with the “same old” toys. So we are constantly out and about to see and explore new things.
Again, a favorite is the Children’s Museum of Denver. They just opened a new outside park with a fun little river and zip line and sand mountain and all kinds of cool stuff. I think we will definitely be renewing our membership there for another year.
Our latest trip to the museum was a bit spontaneous – our other plans for the day fell through and we needed something super fun and exciting to make up for the disappointment.
Even though we’ve been so many times that Jaylee knows every exhibit inside and out, she still really really enjoys coming. We play play play until we’re totally exhausted. Its such a fun place. The biggest drawback is that it is downtown, and you have to fight rush hour traffic to get there. But they keep adding new, fun exhibits. So we’ll keep dealing with the drive. Its really worth it.
Of course, we don’t have to drive downtown to have a great time. Sometimes all that is needed is a kiddie pool, some dinosaurs and princesses, and the world’s best daddy.
And there are lots of fun parks and splash pads out here in the ‘burbs. Jaylee and Jax can have fun just about anywhere – its mommy who melts in the heat. 🙂
It is so nice to be able to raise kids here. There are lots of fun things to do, and most of them are free or relatively cheap. I’ve gotten pretty heavily involved in a couple different moms groups, and we’ve met lots of kids and families here in our area.
Plus we have our good friends from church/high school/family-friends/etc that live around here too. Its nice to be able to pick up the phone, call someone up, and have a play-date arranged for the afternoon. We have been very very blessed to live in such a family friendly, wonderful state.
Even if it does get a bit too hot for my taste. At least its not Texas!
